It was pretty much a white out again in Tignes and Val D’Isere so it’s another heritage picture of Hercules on the Dam. However, there was a break around 11am which allowed some reasonable skiing. It was windy aloft so we stayed relatively low. The pistes were hard beneath a 7cm layer of fresh snow down to 1900m where it turned into something resembling porridge. Off piste felt pretty similar. I am sure that when the higher areas are accessible the fresh snow will be better. Around 1230 it really started hammering it down so discretion overrode valour!
Tomorrow will be cloudy with a strong breeze especially around lunchtime. It may be snowy or it may just be grey – we are right on the edge of the band of weather and the differing forecasts can’t decide – I’ll settle for light snow. It could go either way. They do agree that Wednesday is going to be the best day of the week, blue skies and sunshine after a cold night, it will warm up around lunchtime. Winter returns on Thursday, breezy snowy and cloudy. The jury is still out on Friday, it could be sunny periods or there could be snow showers – stay tuned. The weekend will be a bit cooler and unsettled.
