And a drum roll please!
Hello everybody, I am now busy packing in the UK and should arrive up the ‘stairway to heaven’ (the French call it the D87a to Tignes!) in the middle of next week.
Meanwhile I have been having a look at the weather and the current conditions and it’s all looking rather good. The resort has announced that Piste Double M will open on Fri 17 November so that will mean 1356m of vertical skiing. For the beginners, Bollin should also make an appearance. The piste bashers have been busy and STGM (which has its 50th birthday next week) have been testing the Lanches chair so a much better start than in some of the most recent years.
The weather looks pretty benign until Sunday, it is getting a bit warmer so some of the snow below the dam may disappear. Sunday looks pretty grim with high winds and maybe the odd snow shower. The early part of next week looks settled with the odd cloud about, so a good few days for those on an autumn pass. The Jetstream then moves south bringing quite a lot of unsettled weather for the opening week of the Tignes – Val d’Isere, so we will have to wait and see how much can actually be opened. Beyond that it does look very wintery, but it’s a little difficult to be specific at the moment. Fingers crossed!
So it’s now time for the first song of the year – over to Cliff – ‘We’re all going on a winter holiday’.
Until next week…..
