Digital souvenir company Proof Of Visit dropped 100 virtual ‘Edge’ tokens across the Espace Killy, which teams could find by downloading the Takara app to their phones. To collect each token they had to ski to where it was on the map, and download it. The game was made yet more fun as some tokens had clever clues they had to guess or extra challenges to complete – like taking the best team beer drinking photo at a mountain bar! Read more about the rules here.
Marmot Arms owner Will sounded the bugle call to start the race from the bar, and each time a token was downloaded it would be tweeted so each team knew what the competition was up to. The race was tense to the finish, and the beer drinking photos coming in were steadily more hilarious, but a fabulous day was had by all!
Back at the Marmot, a raffle helped edge the final total in the charity pot to over €760. Special thanks to The Langley 2100 Hotel who generously donated a 5 day B&B stay for 2 at their Tignes hotel this summer as a prize. Huge thanks also to Precision Ski, TC’s Bar, Burnt Custard, Couloir Clothing, Tignes Spirit, Planks Clothing and Coffee, Bleubird Apparel, Club Med Tignes, Taylor’s Therapies, Labo Shop and SoBar for their prizes.
We presented €380 to Amicale Des Pistes De Tignes (the Tignes Pisteurs), following their incredible rescue efforts in this winter’s tragic avalanche. And the rest we donated to the magazine’s chosen charity Disability Snowsport UK. Read more about their amazing work helping disabled people access snowsports here.
Big shout out to everyone who supported this event – and we’re looking forward to more of the same next winter!
