Over the past few years TC’s bar has become as well known for the delicious good quality home cooked food served as it is for the cosy front-room atmosphere and often hilarious banter. A firm favourite with Tignes locals and holiday makers in the know, TC’s 3 piece chicken has become a bit of a legendary addition to the Lavachet dinner menu, and people will be relieved to hear that the recent menu revamp still features this delicious dish.
The new menu hasn’t changed dramatically from what it looked like before. It has been simplified and slimmed down, and looks a little bit as you’d imagine after a visit from Chef Ramsey- streamlined is a word that springs to mind. Gone is the fish burger, and the second vegetarian option. What remains is predominantly a selection of burgers, beef, chicken and a quinoa based Veggie option alongside the famous 3 piece chicken and the “Girlie Goujons”. A simple, honest menu that provides enough variety to tickle the taste-buds of any burger aficionado.
If you’re after a good burger, what’s better than simple home-cooked goodness?
“I wanted to condense the menu so that we could do one thing and do it well.” TC explained. “It also means that we can make everything homemade, which is important to me. It’s not an expensive meal, but it’s simple honest food done well. If you’re after a good burger, what’s better than simple home-cooked goodness?”
As an ex-vegetarian i was quite tempted to try the Veggie bean burger, as anyone that puts effort into the non-meat option (especially in meat-crazy French Alps) wins extra brownie points in my book. However, i was too tempted by the Chicken Bacon Burger so went for that instead, and my date went for Texan Burger. Burgers are served with home-cut chips, salad leaves and homemade coleslaw, as well as sauces and relish depending on your choice of burger. Everything in this department is proudly made in house, and packed full of flavour.
My Chicken Bacon burger was delicious. Succulent chicken generously topped with rashers of bacon and lashings of guacamole. The chips are real chips. Chunky, double cooked home-cut fries that are delightfully crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside- positively dreamy. My date was equally impressed with his Texan burger. “Cor- now THAT’s an onion ring!” he said as our plates were set down on the table, and for good reason- they are the chunkiest onion rings I have ever seen. The beef was tender and juicy, and the date especially enjoyed the “Best BBQ sauce in Tignes” as he described it. Safe to say neither of us were disappointed and both left with very happy, very satisfied bellies.
I asked TC what his favourite item on the menu was and without even a moments pause he told me the 3 piece chicken. If you’ve not yet tried it head on down and give it a whirl- it’s flavour packed chicken-y deliciousness. In terms of burgers TC would go for the Forest burger, which, with the offerings of mushrooms and blue cheese was certainly a tempting contender when I was perusing the menu.
For this week TC is offering any burger on the menu for 10€ on Wednesday, so an absolute bargain. If this special offer proves popular then he’ll consider rolling it out every Wednesday for the rest of the season, so people of Tignes, it is in your hands! Come on down and take advantage of this awesome offer and you may be seeing this incredible bargain on the cards once a week from now on! Winner winner chicken (and beef) dinner!
