Freeski Playoffs 2017 Cancelled
The highly anticipated Freeski Playoffs Big Air event which was due to take place in La Rosiere on 9th March this year has had to be cancelled due to the warm weather in recent weeks.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we have had to cancel the 3rd edition of the Freeski Playoffs” announced a La Roisere spokesperson earlier this morning. The difficult decision was made after warm temperatures over recent weeks, and predicted continued warm weather in the weeks to come, have resulted in it becoming impossible to produce the 10 000 cubic metres of snow required to build the jump.
.The Freeski Playoffs usually run over the course of a day, with the final jumps happening as the sun goes down, to the beats of a DJ and with cheerleaders shaking their pom-poms at the foot of the jump. La Rosiere boasts spectacular views over the Tarentaise valley, making it an ideal location for an event such as this. The music and drinks tents give the event a really festive vibe. Last year there were over 3500 spectators and 16 top freestyle athletes from France and from around the World, making this one of the biggest events on the resort’s calendar.

“This does not call into question the sustainability of the event, and we are already looking forward to seeing you in 2018.” Said the La Rosiere spokesperson in a statement this morning. All of us at Edge magazine are already looking forward to it too!
