It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… And we are getting really excited about his year’s festivities!! There are oodles of events planned for the festive season- Father Christmas is going to be very busy! Here’s our guide to What’s On, and where to find Father Christmas. December 19th-23rd, Giant Snow Sculptures
Come and watch as 5 snow sculptures (over 4 metres tall) take form during the week along the Avenue Olympique, and in front of the Church in the Old Town. The talented ice sculptors will use hand saws to carve their designs, and you can catch them in action daily between 10am and 8pm
December 21st, Torchlit Descent
At 6pm Ski Instructors will perform a torchlit descent down the Face de Bellevard. After this mesmerising and daring display they will join you at the foot of the piste to serve you Vin Chaud while enjoying the Christmas fireworks display.
December 22nd- 24th, Enchanted Christmas Village
Father Christmas’s elves will take you on a guided tour of their magical Christmas village every day from 4pm to 7pm. Look for the Christmas igloo in Margherio Square off Olympic Avenue, in the heart of Val D’Isere. On the programme: Christmas shows, story telling, face painting, Christmas carols and many other surprises for your little ones!
December 18th, Lighting of the Christmas Tree
On the evening of Sunday 18th December, there will be magic in the air!! The giant Christmas tree, that has been standing on the “Front De Neige” by the Maison de Tignes since the beginning of december, will be lit for the very first time!! Come to Tignes le Lac for 6pm to enjoy this wonderful occasion that marks the beginning of a joyful week of festivities.
December 22nd, Magical Christmas Parade with Show and Fireworks
On Thursday 22nd December the Christmas festivities continue with a huge Christmas parade that starts in Val Claret with a torchlit descent at 5pm, and follows flamboyant fire-juggling creatures to the ESF office from the Maison De Tignes in Val Claret for vin chaud and hot chocolate. From 6pm the festivities move to Tignes Le Lac where there will be another torchlit descent, and then it’s time for the Christmas Tale, told from the rooftop of the Maison de Tignes by Father Christmas himself! The show is followed by a fireworks display, and then you will have the chance to meet Father Christmas and his little green helper elves. Guaranteed to be a magical evening for all the children- young and old!!

December 19th-24th, Enchanted Christmas Forest
Discover a magical world in the Enchanted Christmas Forest! Here you will find a magical wishing tree, a letter box that delivers directly to father Christmas himself, and a magical chocolate treasure hunt. Guaranteed fun for the whole family! Daily from 4pm, Place des Eucherts
December 19th, Torchlight Descent
Come and enjoy a mesmerising torchlit descent. Meet at 5.30pm on the Front De Neige in the centre of La Rosiere.
December 20th, Gospel Christmas Songs
Christmas Gospel songs 5pm office de tourism. Come and warm the cockles of your heart to the soulful sounds of this Gospel trio. Christmas gospel songs from 5pm at the Tourist Office in La Rosiere town centre.
December 23rd, Chidren’s Torchlit Descent
Open to all children from level 1st Etoile to 1st Yeti. Meet at the Dahu Téléski for the torchlit descent at 5pm.
Christmas Eve, Meet Father Christmas
Greet Father Christmas as he arrives at the bottom of the slopes in La Rosiere, and pose for a photo in Santa’s special photo studio. The evening will be rounded off with the torchlight descent and a firework display. From 6pm.
December 22nd, ESF Torchlit Descent
Mesmerising Torchlit Descent into Sainte Foy by the ESF instructors. From 5.30pm.
December 23rd, Gospel Christmas Songs
From 5.30pm come and treat your ears to the soulful sounds of Gospel Christmas songs. This free concert lasts for 90 minutes, takes place on the snow front, and is completely free!
Christmas Eve, Father Christmas in Sainte Foy
The magic of Christmas is coming to Sainte Foy!! Come and visit Father Christmas while listening to Christmas carols being sung by the Premiere Neige team in the main shopping area of Sainte Foy. Enjoy a free vin chaud or hot chocolate while you’re there!
