Today felt a little cooler because of a thin layer of high altitude cirrus cloud. Nothing to spoil the enjoyment on piste though. In general, the pistes across Tignes and the Bellvarde/Grand Pré areas of Val D’Isere were in good condition, but one or two harder patches are developing at lower altitudes as the temperatures warm during the day and freeze hard overnight. I might pop over and have my edges done!
The forecast remains little changed. Tomorrow through to Friday will be mainly sunny. There may be a thin layer of very high cloud up with the contrails though. The temperatures are going to rise, especially on Friday when the freezing level at lunchtime will be above the Grand Motte! There may be a light breeze now and again. Saturday heralds the changes- there will be quite a bit more cloud about and a drop in temperature, also an early warning of fog down in the valleys for transfer day. It will be very cloudy on Sunday, but the vast majority of the snow showers seem to be getting no further than the eastern half of Switzerland. This could change though, as the forecast confidence on the actual track of the weather front is not that high.
