Tignes Val d’Isere Snow Report & Weather Forecast – 19.03.16

Meteo Mike Snow Reports Tignes Val d'IsereBy Meteo Mike

I decided to go skinning this morning for some exercise, so I skied down to Tignes Les Brevieres and then did the uphill bit on Myrtilles and Melezes – about 1hr 45 for 640m of altitude gain. All the birds were calling to each other, it’s amazing to hear them reply from such a long distance. A lot of noise out of a tiny bird. Spring was definitely in the air.

Tomorrow will start with sunny periods, but after lunch there will be progressively more cloud. By mid-afternoon the sky will be obscured, so it will feel a bit cooler than today. Monday will be mainly sunny with fluffy clouds on the peaks and there is a chance of a light shower in the afternoon. Watch out for a breeze at height late on. Tuesday will be another day of sunny periods – that high level breeze will still be there. Wednesday looks like a day of showers with a snowline around 2200m, so you may get a bit damp in the lower villages. Thursday currently looks like a sunny day and then more showers on Friday – so Spring weather all week.

For those jumping on an aeroplane tomorrow I can foresee no weather problems in the UK, it will be hazy with the chance of drizzle almost everywhere. Over here it looks fine at Chambery and Geneva but Grenoble and Lyon are hedging their bets with a chance of fog before 10 0’clock. If it does pitch up it is unlikely to cause too many delays as it won’t be that thick. Bing Bong Doors to automatic!
