There were indeed some fluffy clouds this morning – some were so fluffy that there were a few flocons up above 3000m where there was a chilling wind. The pistes were harder this morning, indeed there were a few areas with scraped hard pack early on. But nothing to really worry about – it’s getting towards Spring skiing time but as we have great snow depths it will be a while before we see stones or bare patches.
There will be a few clouds around as the sun rises tomorrow morning but these will disperse to leave a sunny day. There will be a breeze to chill things down on the very high lifts; it’s not quite t-shirt weather yet.
Tuesday will see a bit more cloud, especially around the high peaks and a few flocons of snow after the lifts have closed. Wednesday is a bit complicated; the weather system is coming from the east and it depends how far it manages to battle over the Italian Border. Some of the apps are getting quite excitable – I will wait and see, but Val d’Isere will get a bit more than Tignes and a lot more than the 3 Vallees and Paradiski (Fornet Thursday anyone?). There will also be a gusty wind. Thursday will see the return of sunny periods and one or two of the showers may give a bit of snow down to about 1800m. Friday sees the return of high pressure and the sun, but there may be fog down the valley.
