Another glorious day across Tignes – Val d’Isere! The sun shone all day and it was really quite warm. The pistes are still very good (if a little firm first thing). Off piste there is still some chalky snow on the slopes that don’t get the sun – those that catch the sun have that ‘frozen sheen’ some of which softened today to give some Spring skiing. We had a mad charge around today which included the Palet sector, the Grande Motte, The Face de Bellvarde and the Solaise – and, for the first time this year, Piste L.
The weather forecast has changed a little as some of the weather systems which were passing to the north are encroaching on our territory now. Tomorrow will see similar temperatures to today but there will be a thin layer of cloud which will take the heat out of the sun. Wednesday will be similar with more breaks in the cloud in the afternoon. Thursday will be a couple of degrees cooler with cloud in the morning and the possibility of a few light snow showers (above 1800m) in the afternoon. Sunny periods and a freezing level at 2500m for Friday and Saturday. It now looks more certain that winter is going to return on Sunday with gales and snow (rain below 1800m).
