Tignes Val d’Isere Snow Report & Weather Forecast – 14.12.15

Meteo Mike Snow Reports Tignes Val d'IsereBy Meteo Mike

A Double Glacier Day! A long run out to Le Fornet this morning, where the snow on the glacier was great. Unfortunately the run from the Lessieres Express to the Signal restaurant was poor – bare bits, rock and sheets of ice where it looked like the cannons had been blowing water and not snow.  We downloaded on Solaise Express as Plan M was looking less than welcoming today. After lunch we reached the top of the Grand Motte – again fab snow – just a narrow bit of piste as you approach the Vanoise Chair to watch out for withsome sizeable moguls.

Tomorrow will be made up of sunny periods – so not so warm in the shadow. The cloud will fill in later and we are expecting a few snow showers overnight on Tuesday with a snow level at about 2000m. Don’t expect more than 2-5cm though – the main band of precipitation is passing to the north. Wednesday looks like being mainly cloudy, with a 0 Deg level at 2500m. The sun will return on Thursday and it will be even warmer with a freezing level over 3000m. As the weekend approaches it will be mainly cloudy. Meteo France have just started issuing full avalanche bulletins – not surprisingly it is Risk Level 1 for the Espace Killy.
