I am running out of ways of saying warm sunny day! Initially we set off to explore the newly opened Aiguille Percee sector, the Aiguille Percee piste itself looked quite hard but Corniche was fine as was Rhododendron, which was as far as we got because the pistes below the top of the bubbles were closed off – so currently download only to Boisse and Breviere. The piste bashers have been moving snow from the sides to ensure that they have the cover, together with much overnight work from the cannons, so overall the pistes have improved and are now mostly firm rather than hard.
Tomorrow may bring some light clouds but it will remain warm, but the sun will return on Monday for another ‘Scochio’ day. Forecasting the weather for mid week is proving to be problematic – currently Tuesday is showing up as cloudy and cooler, with sunny periods and showers on Wednesday (and perhaps a few cm of snow). Again the main area of rain/snow is not that far to the north. The rest of the week – sunny periods and back to warmer temperatures like today.
For those transferring tomorrow I see little in the way of bad weather to affect flying. The south of the UK will be wet or drizzly and the north a bit murky. Over here it is currently looking good at Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble – there is just a small chance of early fog patches at Chambery – but these should have gone (if they appear at all) by the time flights arrive.
